Combination of ergoloid mesylates

Description: Ergoloid mesylates are oral psychotherapeutic agents. Ergoloid mesylates are used for age-related decline in mental capacity. The mechanism of action in improving mental capacity is unknown. Because symptoms of dementia are of unknown etiology, careful diagnosis is recommended to rule out causes other than dementia for presenting symptoms. This drug was approved by the FDA in 1951. Under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the patent for HydergineTM expires on May 26, 1996. Contraindications: Acute or chronic psychosis. Drug Interactions: No significant interactions. Adverse Reactions: Sublingual irritation, nausea, GI disturbances. Dosage: Initially, 1-2 mg PO or SL tid. Doses have ranged from 1.5-12 mg PO or SL per day, and a period of treatment of at least 6 months is recommended.
