I've found I can sometimes help Mum remember by coming at memories from
another angle - eg. she said she didn't recall a family meal,  so I waited a few
minutes, then asked what she'd eaten at the event (WITHOUT asking if she
remembered)  - and got a normally-detailed report of an event she thought she 
didn't
remember.

Meanwhile I'm doing memory exercises & computer chess so the brain cells at
least don't die of disuse.
