Dear Rayilyn,=20
Spring is just around the corner. It's time to get outside =
and get some fresh air! And APDA has some great ideas on how people =
living with Parkinson's can get some exercise this spring!
A brutal winter battered much of the country. Many suffer =
from cabin fever. And those living with the impact of Parkinson's may =
find it especially hard to get enough exercise when footing is slippery =
and days are short.
But exercise is crucial in the fight against the progression =
of Parkinson's. And so is the research you'll help advance as you =
exercise your power against this disease with a generous gift to the =
American Parkinsons Disease Association.
Bringing Spring to the Steps of Those Living with =
Parkinson's,
Joel A. Miele Sr., P.E.
President

Potential breakthrough! A new study by The Montreal =
Neurological Institute at McGill University discovered a molecular link =
between Parkinson's disease and defects in the ability of nerve cells to =
communicate with each other. This discovery could lead to innovative =

People Living With Parkinson's More Agile With Wii Exercise
After eight weeks of playing with Nintendo Wii for an hour =
several times a week, people with Parkinson's showed decreased =
depression and increased agility. Study participants at the Medical =
College of Georgia improved hand-to-eye coordination and sequenced =
movements. Read more here.

Glasses Help Make Walking Easier
Working with electrical engineers, a podiatrist designed =
special glasses to help those living with Parkinson's walk with ease. =
The retired podiatrist, himself diagnosed with the disease, had an idea =
to help regain his mobility and prevent falls while walking.

New Insole Keeps People on Their Feet
A new insole design featuring a raised ridge around the edge =
helps older people -- and people living with Parkinson's -- to avoid =
falls and resulting injuries. The SoleSensor insole enhances balance by =
increasing the sensory information the foot sends to the brain with =
every step.
