>From the October issue of California Retired Teachers' Association (CRTA)
Bulletin:

CA Senate Bill 1664 amended in 2000, allows eligible California senior
homeowners and renters to receive a once-per-year rebate on taxes based on
assessed value of the home.

You are eligible for this rebate if you were 62 years of age or older on or
before December 31, 2003; or if you are blind or if you are disabled and
you lived in your home on December 31, 2003 and had a total household income
of $38,505 or less.

You can get this rebate application with complete instructions on completing
it free of charge by calling the Franchise Tax Board at 800-338-0505 or on
the web at www.ftb.ca.gov - follow the quick link to form 9000R.

The information above is part of an article to advise seniors that there is
an organization that offers to fill out
Form 900R for $36. The outfit's offer is a scam to get your money and
personal information. THE REBATE IS LEGITIMATE! If you qualify, fill out
the form and mail it. It will cost thirty-seven cents!
